Last week a group of EFDP students travelled to Chester Zoo as a trip organised by our lecturers.
The purpose of the trip was about looking at the zoo’s role in conservation and education about wildlife, not only with rare animals from around the world, but other programmes for native species and plants.
One of the students, Tanya Peters, spoke about her views on the trip: “The Chester Zoo trip provided us with information on the zoo’s native species conservation programmes and the Chester Zoo's involvement in captive breeding programmes of endangered species, such as the Okapi.
“We saw most of the animals in their indoor enclosures including; jaguars, monkeys, orang-utans, giraffe, lions and even some crocodiles.
“It was a brilliant trip, thanks to our lecturers for organising it.”
